Staff directory

What is the Staff directory?

The Staff directory allows you to view and manage school employees. From this central hub, you can update personal details, manage contracts, configure access permissions, and send password reset links to staff.

Please note: The appearance and functionality of this area will differ depending on whether your school uses Satchel One Learning Platform or Satchel One MIS.

  • If you're using Satchel One MIS , all staff data can be managed directly within Satchel One.

  • If you're importing data from a separate MIS, fewer sections will be available; updates should be made in your MIS and will sync into Satchel One during the next scheduled import.

View the Staff directory

🔒 The actions within this section are controlled by the Staff directory permission.

To access the directory, go to Tools → Staff → Staff directory.

In the Staff directory, each row represents an individual member of staff, and the following column headings are visible across the top:

  • Name

  • Email

  • Last activity

  • Site access (Not invited / Has site access / Disabled access)

  • Type (Teaching / Non teaching)

  • Super admin (Yes / No)

  • Actions (View/Delete)

You can sort the data by clicking on any of the column headings. For example, to see all staff in order of when they last logged in, click the Last activity column heading.

Customise columns

You can also bring more columns into the Staff directory display. Just click 'Columns' on the top right-hand side and add/remove as needed to display the relevant information.

Your preferences are saved to your account, so you won’t need to reselect them next time. To reset to the default selection, click the X.

Since data can be exported, these options also allow you to build a custom staff report.

ℹ️ Please note that the available information depends on MIS sync compatibility. Some options are exclusive to schools using Satchel One MIS.

A banner on the staff directory page allows you return to the legacy ‘Manage Users’ area; some features have not yet been transitioned to the new version of Satchel One so you may wish to access them this way. Using the legacy site allows you to update staff emails in bulk. This feature will soon be available in the new version of Satchel One, at which point access to ‘Manage Users’ will be removed.

FAQ

Question

Answer

A member of staff has left our school but they are still showing in the Staff Directory. How do I delete their Satchel One account?

Staff marked as leavers on your MIS are automatically deleted from Satchel One after 28 days of inactivity.

If you don't want to wait 28 days, you can manually delete staff leavers earlier. Find the member of staff in the directory, look for the 'Actions' column on the right-hand side of the screen, then click the bin icon.

Please note: There isn't a mass delete option currently.
