What is On call?

The On call feature allows staff trigger an alert when they require assistance from their On call team. This could be in response to challenging behaviour from a student.

How it works

  1. Send an alert when assistance is needed.

  2. All On Call team members receive a push notification on the app and a Priority alert on the website.

  3. A team member assigns the alert to themselves and works to resolve it.

  4. Once resolved, the On call team receives a summary email.

Send an On Call alert

🔒 The actions within this section require permissions for On call alerts.

From a class

You can easily send an On call alert through the Student list of any class.

  1. Find a class in My classes or by using the search bar at the top

  2. Click on the class to view the Student list

  3. Locate the On call column

    • If you don’t see this on your screen, click Columns > On Call > Done to add

  4. Click Send alert

  5. Optionally, fill in additional information for the On call team

  6. Click Send

If the class has a timetabled lesson with location, this will be auto-filled.

From priority alerts

You can also send alert by clicking the Priority alerts icon at the top-right of your screen and then on Send on call alert. You can access this dropdown from any page on the website.

The difference is that this way you will need to manually select the student and location.

Manage alerts

View and cancel your alerts

Open the Priority alerts menu to view the alerts you have created. The alert includes the student’s name and the current status for the alert. Click on the alert to see more information or to cancel it.

If the alert was triggered in error or assistance is no longer required, click Delete to cancel it. The On Call team will be notified via email that the alert was closed.

If you'd like to keep the alert active and return to your work, simply click Dismiss.

Resolve an alert

For details about setting up the On call team, please go to On call setup.

When a new alert is sent, all On call team members receive a push notification on the mobile app and a Priority alert on the website. The alert is shown in a pop up screen and includes a sound notification. If dismissed, the alert can be accessed again via the Priority alerts button.

The status of the alert will be 'Awaiting response' until a member of the On Call team assigns themselves to the alert. To claim responsibility for assisting with this alert, click Assign to me.

After an on call team member has assigned themselves to an alert, their name will be visible in Priority alerts.

When the assignee has responded to the alert, they can open the alert on the web browser or mobile app and click Mark as resolved. Resolved alerts are removed from the list.

On call summary

Once an alert closed (marked as resolved or cancelled), it will be removed from the Priority alerts list.

An 'On call summary' email will then be sent to all members of the On call team with details of the alert.

If an On call alert is not resolved by the end of the day, the alert will be automatically removed. The details of these outstanding alerts will still be sent in an email summary at the end of the day.
