What are notice types?

Notice types allow you to categorise your notices into colour-coded themes for better organisation. It also allows users to filter through notices to find something specific based on the categories you’ve created.

View notice types

To view notice types, go to Tools > System > Notice types.

You’ll see a list of all existing notice types, including their active and restricted states. You can search types by name using the search bar above the list.

Restricted notice types can be particularly useful to ensure that only staff with elevated rights can share certain messages.

  • Active toggle - Deactivate a notice type to hide from the Notice board

  • Restricted toggle - Allow only users with Restricted notice types permission to create notices for these types

  • Edit - Update the notice type name and colour

  • Delete - Permanently remove notice types you no longer need

Create notice types

Click the ‘Create’ button at the top right of the screen.

Give your notice type a unique name and select a colour which will be used for posts on the notice board, then save your changes.

  1. Go to Tools > System > Notice types

  2. Click Create

  3. Enter the notice type name

  4. Select a colour to help identify notices of this type on the Notice board

  5. Click Save

The notice type will be immediately available to use for your notices.

What happens to deactivated notice types?

New notices cannot be created for inactive notice types. However previously set notices will remain unaffected.

Who can view notices created for a restricted notice type?

Restricted notice types mean that only users with the relevant permissions are able to create a notice for such categories. However, the notices are then visible to anyone with notice board access.
